Uche Ignites Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
